Meet the Pros

Palos Verdes Tennis Club has a terrific staff to enhance your game and make your total club experience awesome! All PVTC Pros teach, participate in events, and want to share their love of tennis with YOU. Their great attitudes and genuine interest in PVTC's members make our club fun for players from 3 years old to 90! For more information on lessons, contact John or any of the Pros directly. John Carrizosa
PVTC Head Pro

John has taught in the South Bay for 30 years. He enjoys teaching a wide range of players. His students have included an NCAA doubles champion, a member of the U.S. Junior Davis Cup team, nationally ranked juniors, countless Marine League players, and 10 and under QuickStart Tennis. He teaches the Modern Tennis Method which simplifies the game and accelerates the learning process, enabling students to improve at a quicker pace.

Ken Shoji
​PVTC Pro

Ken was born and raised in Torrance, CA. He played competitive tennis tournaments throughout his junior years. He has been coaching tennis since 2004, including a year of coaching in Tachikawa, Japan. His students are of all ages and levels. He also offers hitting opportunities for many ranked juniors in the area. Ken has been teaching at PVTC since 2012.

Georgie Lalonde
​PVTC Pro

Georgie started playing tennis in the U.K at the age of 9 and soon went on to become one of the top juniors in the country with a junior world ITF ranking of 417. She turned pro at 16 gaining a WTA ranking and played on the tour for 3 years. She travelled to the U.S for college on a full athletic scholarship to LMU in 1999 and gained her B.A in English. In 2019 she was inducted into the LMU Athletic Hall of Fame. As a USPTR certified tennis professional she has been coaching at several clubs in Southern California since 2004.

Mike Wojnarowicz
PVTC Tennis Director

Mike grew up playing tennis in Honolulu, Hawaii, and was a top-ranked USTA junior player. Mike went on to play Division I tennis on a full athletic scholarship at Loyola Marymount University. After graduating, he worked for the Tennis Channel before transitioning to becoming a full-time coach. He has been coaching for over 15 years in Hawaii, New Zealand, and California.

Valarie Ogawa
  
PVTC Pickleball & Tennis ​​Pro


Valarie grew up playing junior tennis in the South Bay area. She competed in many of the SCTA local junior tournaments. Her stand-out play has recently helped PVTC advance to the D-1 level of Marine League. Valarie has a smooth back court game but is known for her doubles anticipation and aggressive net play. She is our Program Director, pickleball and tennis instructor.
